Long-Term Care
Genoa Long-Term Care is a 39-bed facility providing a home for individuals who need physical and medical care. Our Long-Term Care is connected to the Hospital through the connecting link providing excellent care in the case of an emergency and great convenience when lab work or other equipment is needed to care for the resident.
Dining
Our trained staff prides themselves in serving the residents well planned, well balanced meals. We cater to their likes, dislikes, and special dietary needs. We provide the activity department with snacks for the afternoon and morning "coffee time". Our dining room is bright and cheery with a lot of windows so we can enjoy fresh air and sunshine. Families are welcome to reserve space for get-togethers and guests are always welcome to eat a meal with their loved one.
Our consulting dietitian is onsite on a weekly basis and is available for nutritional counseling by appointment.
Chapel
Our chapel located at LTC is spiritual home to our residents. Throughout the week Bible Study, Devotions, ministry through music, Catholic Rosary and Mass as well as all faith services every Sunday are offered. We are very fortunate to have six caring and devoted ministers and one lay minister serving our facilities. To honor and celebrate the life of each resident who passes away while in our care a simple but dignified memorial service is held. Family and friends as well as residents and staff are welcome and encouraged to attend. During the service we have a time of remembering when anyone who wishes to is asked to share their thoughts and memories of the departed one. Our facility is a close knit community where residents bond with one another as well as with staff and loving relationships are formed. We find this service to be extremely helpful in providing peace and comfort as well as closure to all those left behind.
Salon
Genoa Medical Facilities is equipped with a full salon to provide grooming and beauty services to all of our residents and patients. A contracted licensed beautician is available by appointment. The beautician provides washing, styling, colors and perms.
Activities
In addition to all of our spiritual activities we offer several different forms of exercise, a variety of card and board games, trivia, puzzles, memory games, crafts, Wii, ring toss, dart games, balloon tennis, gardening, hand rubs, nail painting, conversation and thought provoking activities, baking, bi-monthly birthday celebrations, and coffee with snacks every afternoon. Residents especially enjoy events involving children such when the preschool classes come to visit and our annual Halloween parade with preschool through sixth grade students and plenty of scary staff and residents. These are just a small sampling of activities offered. All holidays are celebrated with special events. There are a variety of games for all ages, good conversation and usually plenty of sunshine, with lots of delicious food. The year wouldn't be complete without Christmas festivities which include decorating cookies, Christmas caroling, a Christmas party complete with a gift for each resident provided by the staff, and that all important visit from Santa and his elves!
Some outings have included: van rides, shopping trips, fishing, supper at the Senior Center, breakfast at the café, American Legion fish fry, trip to Omaha Zoo, Casino gambling, picnic in the country, and individual residents escorted to weddings and other important family events. We welcome anyone who would like to join us for any of our activities and we'd love to have you join our volunteer program!
The Activities Department also schedules entertainment for the public to attend. This could include music and a wide variety of entertainment provided by area entertainers.
Our 30-member Long Term Care nursing staff is resident focused and consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Medication Aides, and Nursing Assistants.
Our Long Term Care staff work jointly with physical, occupational and speech therapy to assist our residents in remaining as active and independent as possible. These therapies are located in house, either our hospital or Long-Term Care Facility.
The residents also participate in a restorative program that focuses on keeping the residents moving and active. This program consists of walking, stretching and other repetitive movements to help enable the continuation of movement.
