Director of Ancillary

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for day to day, on-site supervision of the laboratory and radiology departments, including proper performance of all laboratory and radiology procedures and reporting of test results. Oversees quality control, proficiency testing, preventive maintenance, and quality assurance studies. Interacts directly with medical staff members in interpretation and follow up on patient results.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate from an AMA approved Laboratory Technology program
Associate degree in Medical Lab Technician OR Bachelors degree in Medical Technology
Previous management experience preferred

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations
Board registered or eligible for registry as a Medical Technician (MT) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) with one of the national registries associated with laboratory practice (ASCP, NCA, AMT, etc) or equivalent; OR be certified by HHS (HEW) by testing and experience prior to 1994
Licensed by the State of Nebraska as a Limited Radiographer
Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred (must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated leadership skills
Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to lab
Ability to perform waived, moderately complex and highly complex testing accurately

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Ability to write reports and correspondence
Ability to effectively present information to patients, families, employees, health care providers, etc...
Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively to maintain good working relationships
Ability to work with skill in identifying problems; making frequent decisions regarding method of performance
